Papers submitted to RESEARCH MICRO undergo a rigorous, constructive peer-review process aimed at improving the clarity, quality, and scientific integrity of the work. Our goal is to ensure that all published research meets high ethical standards in the conduct, analysis, and reporting of scientific studies.
We collaborate with highly qualified scientists, academic editors, and a broad network of expert peer reviewers. The journal follows a single-blind peer-review model, in which reviewer identities are not disclosed to authors. Our editorial team is committed to providing objective, thorough, and constructive feedback and supporting authors throughout the publication process.
Upon submission, the Editors perform an initial assessment of the manuscript’s fit within the journal’s scope, scientific rigor, and quality of data presentation. Peer reviewers then evaluate the manuscript according to reviewer guidelines to ensure that the research we publish is scientifically robust, ethical, and of high quality.
Manuscripts authored by Editors or Editorial Board members will be handled by Editors who have no affiliation with the authors or their institution and will be evaluated in accordance with our editorial ethics policy. Please see the Editorial workflow below.
Publication and Peer-review Criteria
RESEARCH MICRO evaluates all submissions according to the following criteria:
Supports all scientifically sound outcomes - positive, negative, and null results are welcome.
Clear hypothesis or research question that frames the study.
Transparent and complete data reporting, enabling assessment of rigor and reproducibility.
Strong emphasis on hypothesis-driven experimentation, where applicable.
Reproducibility and methodological clarity, with essential controls, proper statistical approaches, and sufficient detail for replication.
Ethical standards in study design, data collection, analysis, and reporting.
Consistency and validity of conclusions supported directly by the data.
These criteria guide both editorial screening and external peer review, ensuring that accepted manuscripts contribute meaningful, reliable knowledge to the scientific community.
